Netflix streaming is a step above when it comes to traditional TV services but in the long run I still prefer physical disks. No subscription fees, no compression, or certain 4k Smart TVs gating off 4k resolution. I built up quite the collection that i will always have. With Netflix, when finding content, it’s best to watch it asap because without warning the movie or series can get delisted for their licensing deal.
As for game streaming, i still prefer physical disks and games running natively on console or pc hardware. With running games natively, there is no compression, and far less latency issues.
Fun fact, factory pressed disks such as CDs, DVD’s and Blu-ray disks can last up to 100 years if taken well care off.

I still have my PS3 special edition that plays 3D blu rays along with my 3D TV…it’s always a blast when I watch the 3D movies with the kids.

That old ps3 review is from at least May 2007, not 2008. I remember watching it before I got my ps3 on launch day for NZ in May 2007.

I mean, most PlayStation games are on the disk with the Nintendo switch you buy the game physically so you don’t have to download it to your system that has limited storage. The problem with the PlayStation five every single game has to be downloaded to it.

I hope this comes back to bite Sony in the a$$.
The next time they decide to change the platform and end your so called downloaded’ ownership compatibility they’ll just charge you $$$ extra for those games again
They made people buy Discovery channel TV programs again then years later after they removed it meaning you no longer actually own it and must pay again, never ever to own it. No looking forward to seeing any SUBSCRIPTION based playing either. This is why people pirate stuff.
Too many gamers are ignoring the elephant in the room. The game(s) you pay for now will never be truly yours anymore. If Sony is able to do this then other platforms will follow.

Netflix’s case was different. You never owned the DVDs. You were renting them. On the contrary, with the PlayStation you own the CD. You’re buying the CD. Now they are killing the physical media to digital in order to monopolise the game store. They want to make people stop paying for games and start paying for monthly subscriptions or only buy the games through their digital store. There won’t be a way to lend your games to friends or family, or to sell them and recuperate part of the cost. They’re killing the market. For Netflix’s case there was never ownership. You can still have a DVD and buy movies physically, though they’re not popular. But they exist. With PlayStation you won’t have the option to buy a disc.
Nothing stops me to play Indiana jones on my dvd. Why should it be different on a console?

No disc no media. Buy a movie from any of these places. Two or three years later oh sorry we lost our rights to it. Sony just did that with a bunch of movies. But you bought those movies no, you bought a digital rental agreement. You didn’t buy the movies. You buy them when they’re on Blu-ray. And you have the physical disc. Everything else is good old BS. I’ll stick with PC gaming. Sony can go an F itself.

This video did nothing. The big problem with digital games is mostly that it creates a single market – the PlayStation / Xbox / Nintento store – for your games. Now, I can compare prices. And I can resell the games, if I wanted to. With digital? Nope. I pay the price I pay and I can’t resell.
