    Earlier this year, I became interested in physics. I read many books on the subject, and then I discovered Brian Greene and started watching interviews with some of the world’s greatest physicists.

    I’ve learned so much thanks to the incredible value and knowledge you’ve shared with the public.

    You can think about Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle much like the special order menu that you find in certain Chinese restaurants where you have dishes in column A and other dishes in column B, and if you order the first dish in column A you can’t order the corresponding dish in column B; that’s sort of like the Uncertainty Principle.

    10:40 it’s important to note with the double slit experiment, it may be an electron before it’s fired and when it lands, but it travels as a wave, and in fact an electron *is* a wave so the electron waiting to be fired is a localised wave and when it’s fired through the slits it is a spread out wave, so with a spread out wave fired at two slits you should expect an interference pattern. With all the variations on the experiment, like the 2000 atom sized molecule where the interference pattern is also seen, that molecule is also a “matter-wave” in transit. Y’all are all being lied to about what this experiment is meant to show and some pop physicists seem happy to let you believe the lie.

    It’s amazing to me that people like Isaac Newton, who lived hundreds of years ago, could make calculations and predictions about things that we still know our true today and they didn’t have any kind of computers. I think computers are actually making people dumber.

    My theory combines aspects of particle theory and string theory. I believe an electron produces ripples that radiate outward through spacetime, similar to waves spreading across a pond. The frequency of these spacetime ripples may determine the amount of mass the particle can possess. One way I think this idea might be demonstrated is through the double-slit experiment. When a single electron is fired toward two slits, the ripples surrounding the electron could pass through both openings and interfere with one another on the opposite side. The electron itself would then follow the resulting spacetime geometry created by that interference.

    However, the universe is vast, there are few places you can get to that would be useful. So even if there is such a thing as a wormhole outside of a black hole where time and space are warped, then these are very unlikely to be a means of travel that could ever be used.

    An AI version of my response is
    “Even if wormholes exist in nature, the conditions required to make them stable and traversable are far beyond anything we can achieve. And because the universe is so vast, any naturally occurring wormhole would likely connect to regions that are inaccessible or useless for travel. So while wormholes are mathematically interesting, they’re very unlikely to ever become a practical means of transportation”.

    As a test of how much I understood quantum physics, I paused the video after the questions, thought up an answer, then played the video to see how much I got wrong. Ended up getting all them in a range of 50% to 95% correct. Cool!

    Einstein stopped believing in wormholes as they violate local causality. Bells Inequality has a missing link that demotes them as evidence for action at a distance. QM overlooked it. QM tunnels?     there’s beauty in how much we as a species have learned and now understand in such a short time. considering how we could get to this level of understanding of the workings of the universe in, say, a few thousand years of classical thinking, and noticeably accelerated that understanding at an exponential rate, we can speculate that humanity can approach the limit of understanding in the not so distant future, relatively speaking.

    The very definition of universe implies everything, so if there were other masses they wouldn’t be universes, they would be something else and the collective would be the universe. I will never agree with physicists that acknowledge multiverse existence, in any capacity including theory.

    Its not logical based on definition.

    Your wormhole analogy is false. Warping spacetime (to the best of our knowledge) enough to make two distant points touch creates a singularity. To the layman reading this and not really understanding, this means our maths fail, they start spitting out gibberish like infinities. There is also the process issue. Warping spacetime would take a lot of energy, maybe more energy than the universe has. Warped spacetime would also need to unfold at some point, that process would produce the same HUGE amount of energy. Who knows what might happen between the points, could be total annihilation for anything caught in that fold. Then there’s the classic “wormhole” problem where we are propping open the mouth of the wormhole with an unknown, basically invented “well we know it needs negative energy and a type of negative mass that whatever it is would have enormous negative gravity” placeholder. It’s like a recipe for cake but instead of saying sugar it’s a description of a theoretical and overly complex explanation of what properties sugar might have in a world that has no sugar of any sort. Not even going to get into how time might behave in such systems. Then there’s the bulk conjecture stating that traveling through the bulk in a wormhole would take as much if not more time than traveling directly through flat space. And then there’s the chronology protection conjecture (which is wrong but whatever) stating that the universe will correct (somehow) any attempt to travel backward in time.

    I saw a docuseries on PBS maybe 20 years ago, on physics and string theory. A bit above my head, or maybe way above my head, but very interesting due to Brian Greene presenting. Never really followed up with any formal physics beyond physics 101 in undergrad, but his easy explanations of very complex topics have stuck with me over the years

    I don’t study quantum mechanics, lol
    isn’t observation is a kind of involvement but without interaction. maybe if we look at it in a different way, it’s just a mere existence of something (whether it has an ability to observe or not) is what enables the other “thing”, in this case, quantum system to give possibilities go results

    in observation, you pry, thus the other thing gives you what you’re just looking for (it’s like that pharse ” hitting you with reality)

    I don’t know, I probably not making any sense. hehe
