because it’s like art and only worth anything to rich people for tax evasion and money launderers.

You sum it up perfectly. Just another pretentious more easy version of “valuable art”

Soooooo, who cares? With all this said, owning an NFT is basucally owning nothing. I still don’t see any value in owning an NFT. It does literally seem like false scarcity created by and for internet hipsters. I’d love a definition if real value.

The biggest problem with this whole thing is that an artificial sense of ‘value’ is being created on a large scale, and this bubble will soon pop if things don’t calm down. Nobody wants a landmine slide if everything you own is virtual lol

theres a difference tho – BTC is not only stored on your hardware but also on million other devices – that’s why it’s safe 😀

Yea I support crypto, but I believe they definitely need to find a more energy efficient way to go about securing the network

Pales in comparison to the internet as a whole, which does nothing good for humanity. Same with Amazon & Google.

ACEOs need to become more popular. They’re like NFTs but real life and don’t destroy the planet. If you like collecting art, collect ACEO

NFTs are for rich people who want to show their wealth off.

    • REAL TALK

      April 8, 2021 at 7:07 am

Wealthy people wouldn’t waste their money on NFT’s. NFT is how you can sell anything to anyone without a traceable transaction. Drugs. Prostitution. Etc

  21. Zac

    April 6, 2021 at 10:36 pm

    So stupid

altcoins don’t do anything? hmm this is an unfair statement. not all of them are shitcoins.

  26. ImPex

    April 7, 2021 at 12:29 pm

Saying that alt coins are doing nothing is simply wrong. Many of them have some good Technologies behind them, that tackle real world problems.

I’ll stick to tangible art and limited prints. Because then I actually have something in my hand that I really do own… This s*** is stupid as f***

How do you feel about NFT? Would you buy them? Have you done it already?

    • skyak

      April 7, 2021 at 6:33 pm

Art is meant to be a useful commentary on our world without being useful. As such, the commentary is in the art, not the price. In this way NFTs are the inverse -they are the ultimate poor quality “art” but their price is a useful commentary on our world. Instead of looking at it and asking “how does it make you feel?” NFTs are some ridiculous transaction reported and the question “Does it make you feel like you are missing out and need to buy?”.

    • skyak

      April 7, 2021 at 6:42 pm

BTW thanks for including the terrible environmental price of cryptocurrencies and by extension NFTs. There is far too little press on the subject compared to other industries with smaller environmental footprints and far greater utility and importance. Nobody speaks of the fact that tesla became the top CO2 producing car company the day Elon promoted BTC.

    • Neil Vincent

      April 8, 2021 at 2:21 pm

yup! i got super and tvk, now waiting for NFTT to be launched on duckdao

  29. Nogardtist

    April 7, 2021 at 4:07 pm

yo professor how do you prove they own a first version file and not a copy
so a NFT virgin pays to own a copy but what prevents anyone else for making another and doing the process again
atleast a chad commissioner can change details on a PNG instead of a jpeg tokenized copy

  30. Alex Roque

    April 8, 2021 at 5:23 am

so one nft to destroy the world with pollution
