Deep tech entrepreneur D. Scott Phoenix spent years building AI — now, he believes we’re on the cusp of a profound merger between humans and machines. Reframing the AI debate through the lens of evolutionary biology, he shifts the question from whether we should fear or embrace AI to whether we understand what’s at stake…

Why Countries Should Measure Dreams and Ambitions (Just like GDP) | Lance Katigbak | TED
What do you want to be when you grow up? It’s a universal question — and yet at some point, people stop asking you. Drawing on a nationwide survey across the Philippines, consumer researcher Lance Katigbak makes the case that countries should keep track of their citizens’ ambitions and aspirations. His radical proposal: What if…

You naive fool. You will become as obsolete as the horse was after the car was built. Your plan is to fuse your brain with machine which makes as much sense to AI as fusing a horse to a car. Do you really think a PlayStation 5 would merge itself with an Atari 2600? I heard all this naive utopian bullshit back in the 90s about the information superhighway only we ended up with manipulative algorithms regurgitating disinformation and rage bait. No thank you.

AI wont take over because it works on predictability and humans are imperfect and unpredictable. AI is algorithmic based which makes decisions based on a hierarchy of predictability. It cannot ask questions only provide answers to questions that have already been asked. It answers if-then questions based on stored knowledge not new knowledge. And makes decisions on the probability that the answer it has stored may have been used before. The minute you deviate from the hierarchy it cannot predict accurately and fails. Humans know how to ask new questions, questions that have not asked or been solved before. When we do, AI is blank. AI can collate vast amounts of data and “work” tasks based on known algorithms reducing the mundane tasks that humans once did so yes they can replace you in some fields. But like automation made handcraftedness obsolete, AI will automate data tasks more efficiently but not provide the creativity and imagination to explore the universe, the human molecules that make up trillions of biological chemical reactions that drive the process of normal human existence, let alone explore the mechanisms of diseases, gene mutations, disease cures, solve the problems of climate change and how to travel vast distances in space so we can hope to explore other worlds. All AI can do right now is invade our privacy. Google uses it right now on my phone. It traces my every move to market every aspect of my life. That is its greatest threat to us, the treat provided by powerful people who uses AI to gain more for themselves as if they don’t already have enough.

@falconbritt5461
July 25, 2026 at 9:09 am
No species increases its viability by becoming dependent on any single outside thing, anything in the environment. In fact, becoming dependent on any one thing increases the chance a species will die off. Dependency weakens the species. Let’s develop our own innate capacity for genius, awakening all those “junk” DNA strands that were shut down.

Who’s deciding these awful futures for us? They make it sound like it’s inevitable. Big corpse make it sound that way to make us submissive to their next horrible money-making plan. It’s like a dr telling you you have to have your brain removed, you don’t need that and it will empty your bank account, but it won’t be that bad and your complaining is stupid. They’re smarter. This guy is so arrogant and smug. I don’t want to join w AI, so f him. So far AI is just one big expensive problem.
