My preference of sleep is in the (relatively) dark. I used to detest naps but now they are my friend(s). I also enjoy shut-eye in (absolute) silence/quiet or sometimes at other times with (“quiet”) noise, talking, music in the background.. .

Sleep being necessary to human biology creates its own darkness as we transition into a semiconscious state of being that’s independent of the Earth’s rotation on its axis.

I bought a very bright lamp for growing plants which uses a remote control. I turned it up toward ceiling and found that it filled my home office with a very warm light, especially lacking these cloudy winter months through the one north facing window. The lamp simulates the sun and anecdotally I can say that I felt an improvement in my sleep 🤗🤗 The lamp simulates the light spectrum necessary for growing plants indoors, maybe a study of artificial sunlight equivalents could be sponsored by one of these companies. Just purchased an additional lamp for my bedroom, use it on early cloudy mornings, feels like sunlight, wakes me up. These lamps have a bluetooth remote with brightness adjustments & timer, less than $100 for a tripod unit.🤗🤗

  21. @alvinksl8405

    February 17, 2025 at 1:33 pm

Daylight is important. But as science progresses, we will one day find what she claimed above is not what actually happened, as with all other findings in science in our past by scientists. Science is the wrong tool to understand the infinity around us because it is trying to make all matters conform to it. Science itself is not at fault here; it is when we make it the rule and basis of all matters so we can control and gain something out from it, that is the mistake.

It’s officially the Ternus era at Apple.

Tim Cook stepped down as CEO this week, handing the company to former hardware chief John Ternus, whose first memo promised a “huge launch next week” — timing that puts Apple’s next iPhone event on his desk before he’s even settled in. Cook isn’t going far, though: he’s staying on as executive chairman, focused on the kind of policy relationships that recently turned something as small as a map label into a very public balancing act. All of which raises an obvious question: what does the Ternus era look like, and how much rope will shareholders give him to figure it out?

On this episode of TechCrunch’s Equity podcast, hosts Kirsten Korosec and Sean O’Kane unpack what Ternus is walking into, why he may actually be better positioned to make progress on software than hardware in this new AI era, and more of the week’s news.
