Texas is the tech hub and petroleum industry center, and a powerhouse for agriculture and ranching, making it a productive state. It matters to have favorable business policies, and it helps to have elected government officials who care about their state and its people. Governor Abbott is a strong leader.

Brownsville is an economicly depressed area the last 20 years so this will help out a lot. There will be housing and infrastructure issues as it races to keep up with demand but im sure it will eventually turn out satisfactorily.

SpaceX set up shop outside of Brownsville because there are advantages rooted in Physics from launching rockets as close to the Equator as possible. Manufacturing is about workforce, engineering talent, supply chains and local logistics. I would be curious why one would choose the Rio Grande Valley to base sea focused advanced manufacturing over the coastline anywhere between Freeport and Port Arthur or Orange.
The Houston and Golden Triangle MSAs dwarf the Valley in terms of population. Metro Houston has the second largest total workforce of engineers after Metro LA and the second highest workforce proportion of engineers after Metro San Jose. Southeast Texas is the central node of global chemicals and advanced materials science. The Port of Houston is the largest port by deadweight volume in the country (twice the volume of LA and Long Beach combined), and the Port of Beaumont ranks 8th nationally (smaller than Long beach but bigger than LA) in the same expanded metro area. Similarly, the rail infrastructure is among the best in the country.
Is this just all local tax abatements? Is proximity to the border driving the site choice? Or is this just an Austin firm following SpaceX as a consequence of not really knowing what they are doing?

On the AITelly Youtube Channel, it mentioned that Saronic Corsair could potentially fire a torpedo from it’s hull (where the bomb is currently). Presumably a MK54 or MU90, given the payload capacity of the Corsair. If that’s true, then it could destroy a ship somewhere around 16 miles away and that’s if you don’t optimize the torpedo for a slower speed, which could make it travel farther. That’s an interesting idea because I would assume the kill ratio would be better using a torpedo vs a kamikaze run and the Corsair could then be reloaded with another torpedo. Also, in the Sandboxx News video titled “The US Navy’s Secret Drone Fleet Is WAY Bigger Than You Think”, Alex Hollings explains that, Saronic had increased its production capacity to 1,000 Corsairs per year which is roughly 3 ships PER DAY.
