A Base Power battery is a large home energy storage system (typically 25 kWh to nearly 80 kWh) installed by Base Power Company.
Instead of just being a backup device you buy outright, the company installs and owns the battery while acting as your retail electricity provider, using the stored energy to balance the power grid and lower utility costs.

We must understand oil first before saying it can be replaced, 15% is naphtha and bitumen, this is after oil has been boiled to get the different fractions, to get plastics for batteries, synthetic rubber coated wires, tyres, synthetic carpets, seats, then this comes from this 15%, if the 15% exists and is increased in consumption then the 85% we burn will also increase.
There is no way we can increase the consumption the 15%, as we have all done during the last 30 years and diesel, petrol, LPG, bunker oil, or asphalt from bitumen which is at the bottom of each barrel not to increase in volume also. Aspirin to asphalt we get 6000 plus products, growing a cellulose replacement with diesel driven tractors tread with synthetic rubber tyres, fertilised by gas made fertiliser is not an answer.
The world emits the equivalent of 393 billion tons of ancient organic matter per day in oil at 90 ton’s of organic matter to make one gallon of oil and 164 million tons per day in coal at 7 tons.
A lot of energy to counter but we have all been complicit, still are in our everyday activities.
The world uses 4.6 billion gallons, 17.3 billion litres a day, what feedstock is going to replace medical plastics, the things I mentioned?
Are we going to grow hemp using diesel, gas made fertiliser, using synthetic rubber tyres for tractors and will it replace aspirin, nylon, bitumen?
Renewables are a debt instrument to input money to keep up the levels of consumption in society, they have meant zero transition and I would have expected us to be offering truth instead of obfuscation. Renewables have been part of zero transition because it is all an add-on to total energy, if someone does this in their private lives, efficiency is a saving of energy, overall. If people save any money then unless that money is saved forever then all it will be is displaced consumption, which for society as I say is 70-80% oil based. If someone saves on heating then they might travel more, buy new shoes, even an EV that is half plastic, driving on synthetic rubber tyres, on asphalt is going to add to further consumption of naphtha which is the 15% of each barrel after it has been refined, the 85% that we burn will still exist.
We can not buy our way to less emissions, there is only less consumption, this program of storage without lower overall consumption will only accelerate global warming more.
Electricity being 20-30% of total energy then the 70-80% of total energy needs to be discussed, along with a physical product replacement.
As far as total energy is concerned, renewables have increased 8% of the percentage in 20 years where I am from, while we displace consumption to China for all the goods we buy.
Telling the public that “we are getting there”with solar and wind is corruption and lies.

I think solar panels should be on every private house roof with a battery to be semi independent from the grid or aiding the grid to balance out by joining the network of other batteries.
But sadly people are blinded by how green the solar power looks and often ignore the problems of recycling (for some reason when I was working at solar research centre, just last year they started thinking about it) and how overproduction of solar energy can destabilize the grid like once happened to Germany. Other problem is that for applications like steel making neither solar nor wind can provide the temperature or material to utilize one of the steel production cycles. People should add Nuclear energy to their solarpunk utopia, because it can handle all the things solar/wind can’t and some of the next generation reactors like HTGR (often used in SMR) by design and laws of physics can’t let explosions or radioactive material release happen. If you care about radioactive waste, look up ADS for MA transmutation, it solves it.

I don’t understand how the old vanguard of the environmentalist movement continues to say the exact same things they have for decades; that we can solve the problem and have the same quality of life if we just push renewables a LITTLE BIT HARDER THIS TIME.
Even if you could run the world we have off of renewables, you’d still be killing the planet, just a little bit slower and in a different way. It would change nothing about our rabid resource gathering or our blatant disregard for the biosphere’s natural systems. All of the renewable electricity that has been added to the grid has been just that; adding to a grid that maintains the superorganism ruining our biosphere.
And regardless, the problem is not, nor has it ever been, people not “understanding” how nice and fun renewables are. The corporate system, and by proxy the leaders of the world, have full knowledge about the climate crisis and fully understand what they are doing. They’re either under the impression they can buy survival with the wealth produced by extraction, or they believe that our enemies will suffer more than us and we can use the decaying biosphere as a way to maintain hegemony. They will never peacefully swap over from a substance that can maintain their control unless a new substance that maintains control arrives.
At this point, i’m convinced that anyone who pushes a “green status quo” solution to the climate crisis is a corporate plant, because they’re giving folks the utterly false impression that we can gently solve the problem when that’s far beyond true now.

Here in the Philippines, our biggest energy provider is Meralco. They have made purchasing and installing Solar Panels to our roofs almost near impossible and costly while calling this renewable energy, UNSAFE for our homes. They do not seem to entertain the possibility that they can collaborate and make it so that electricity is accessible, flowing throughout for everyone. Instead, they fight back and spread misinformation to minorities who do not know any better. Our current government is lacking and so are these corporations who seem to serve themselves rather than the people.
