No culture or country is only one thing #TEDTalks
Novelist Chimamanda Adichie tells the story of how she found her authentic cultural voice — and warns that if we hear only a single story about another person or country, we risk a critical misunderstanding.

A lot of Africans (immigrants & those still living in Africa) speak better English than white Americans.

Yes. And this affects everyone. Not always to the same degree, but it does.

Established media has lost a lot of credibility. Everything is produced through a filter or framing that distorts reality into what they want the masses to see. Now through the increase availability of independent journalists and individual contributors, everyone has easy access to indisputable proof of events happening around the world and they can think for themselves instead of being told what to think. Support these journalists and not the media moguls.

Making questions should always be embraced as genuine interest, as a South American myself I would never consider a question about my country’s ethnicity and culture as an offense, on the contrary, I am happy to teach others what they had not had the chance to learn previously. We are all ignorant about something or somewhere.

If TED talks could just get rid of the sound of people’s mouths, I would greatly appreciate it
