[ 0:11 ] it’s a rife issue in my country, the Philippines, how public funds allocated to flood control projects were misspent by politicians on their lavish lifestyles. So, the livelihoods of many were destroyed when a storm ravaged through, because rivers and waterways swelled. The Philippines’ abundance of natural resources, high tourism potential, advantageous position on the globe, among other things, are never used to uplift the lives of my fellow countrymen.
Simply put, the Philippines isn’t poor; Filipinos are poor.

In case anyone is interested: the resource curse is BOTH internal and external sources being interested in countries with rich resources. she only mentions internal destabilization, but it’s a little sly to not mention the other part. Often, this leads to shared exploitation as foreign corps and govts make deals with dictators directly, each protecting the other’s interests and getting wealthier.

If your political views are obvious then you are not an unbiased source. Not a single mention that Biden had to pardon his family for actions they have done. That doesn’t scream corruption? What a brilliant presentation! I’ve lived long enough to have seen much of what you described. I had long thought that couldn’t happen in the U.S. I agree Trump is the most corrupt president, but many law changes have snowballed for decades and allowed Trump to use our democratic process to empower himself. He so cleverly found a base of people who would accept his corruption in exchange for support of their own interests or views of the world. People have called him dumb, but he is an expert manipulator and bully, and proud of it.
