He is talking to use the technology and the reality together to expand the limits of creativity, the limits of our senses improving them with the AR. Is not something you can do “in real life” unless you use a screen, but he is saying something like “what if we change our perspective, our vision, our senses, instead of changing the world? let’s make an alternative world that we can see without changing the real world.” The reality is just a perception, with the technology we can change our perception without changing things. This can seems useless but it’s the progress process, it can bring useful things that we don’t know we need. It’s the same it was for the space missions, at the beginning it looks useless to travel in the space, but now we have microchip technology, satellites, GPS, and a lot of new components constantly improved.
