      What’s funny is that even if her family was from Beijing they would write the name Zhang. I’m guessing her family is from Hong Kong, where a lot of people dislike Beijing even more than Americans do. So yeah… learn about the person / culture / language / history / etc. because you literally don’t even know whom your insulting. Even from an ethnicity standpoint, people in SE Asia are not the same as Northern Mainland China. They also don’t speak the same language. Plus she’s an American who went to Harvard… and all that is even if it was ok to be prejudiced against people from other countries in the first place.
