Electric motorcycles eliminate components like pistons, valves, air filters, spark plugs, clutches, and exhaust systems, they don’t need regular oil changes, top-end rebuilds, or complex engine servicing. As a result, riders simply don’t rely on frequent dealer service or large replacement parts networks in the same way traditional gas bikes do.

To be clear, I’m saying the fact that these huge install base exist currently means they aren’t going anywhere for anytime soon. Evie will be the minority stakeholder for some time to come. As opposed to this content with suggest Ev’s have already overtaken ice as a whole for dirt bikes

@CyberSamurai4Life You’re mixing up body repair logistics with powertrain maintenance. Waiting on a bumper after a crash is a supply chain issue, but it doesn’t change the fact that an electric bike has zero valves, pistons, oil filters, or clutches to service every 20–50 hours.
Nobody is saying ICE dirt bikes will disappearing tomorrow, the current install base is massive. But long-term, lower maintenance is one of the main reasons electric will keep taking market share.

@shiakas Charge port assemblies, ECUs, and related clips/wiring i’ll have long documented histories of taking months of leadtime. Go back and read the title of the video. Have we reached peak ice powered dirt bikes over last few years? Sure. That’s a reasonable defensible statement. Death? No, I disagree. It’s not only wrong. It’s completely hyperbolic and misleading.

Currently rocking a Husky 4 stroke. I went that route because of range, but as I spend more time on tracks and parks the more I can see myself on an electric. Especially as we go almost every weekend and Im getting tired of filter and oil changes, checking compression, worrying about the top end, etc.

4:40 Ebikes can battery swap, that’s faster than refueling.
5:00 If it takes hours to recharge is off a trickle charger, no upgraded electrical outlets needed.
5:10 You can charge off a portable battery, an EV or solar panels.

@junito1008 You certainly can, it depends on the race. I’ve seen swaps plenty of times for 2 hour races. However, refueling is still faster, although only slightly.

At my local dirtbike races, some people do swap batteries in the pits where most people refuel. It’s still a bit slower than gas refueling, but I’ve seen it as quick as 15 seconds.

Why – because it’s an option you don’t like? I’m 61 years old and grew up with dirt bikes and muscle cars. I love the fact that we now have EV options for different forms of transportation. If you don’t want an electric dirt bike, don’t buy one.

These E-motos are a good option but will never defeat a gas powered version…for the same reason EVs haven’t defeated gas cars…the RANGE !!

The batteries on high end electric dirtbikes match a standard dirt bike fuel tank and can be swapped in less than 30 seconds. And they have more power with way less maintenance.

Just like E-bikes. They are a fad right now . The motorcycle companies to include Harley Davidson tried and failed. I call them 2 wheeled golf carts. Bicycles used to be for fun and exercise. A mountain bike never runs out of fuel unless the rider does. I’ve been riding motorcycles off and on for 50 years. Planning around fuel stops is effortless. Motorcycles riders have to get an endorsement. This same rule needs to apply to E-bikes with more power than a moped. The laws are trying to adapt to this growing market. I think the real market is private recreational riding. Something you can do on a pedal bike but people are too lazy to do. Modern day Adventurer sport bikes are not loud. Those chainsaw bikes at the tracks are.
